Hunter Ceiling Fan Only Has 2 Speeds

The l stands for load which is the black wire.

Hunter ceiling fan only has 2 speeds. 3 speed ceiling fan only has 1 speed 3 answers i have a 3 speed hunter ceiling that i rarely turn off and all 3 speeds had been working. I think i even bought the last three they have left but i digress. 1 2 3 are the fan speed control wires. For those who are having a problem with their hunter 3 speed fan not working on all speeds listen up.

Has anyone had this problem before. Basically pulling the chain cycles between medium medium low and off. When on pulling the chain once or twice doesn t alter the speed. From clockwise where the pull chain starts the old switch was l 3 2 1.

If you install a ceiling fan without wiring it properly it may prove impossible to operate the fan without the light on and vice versa. The replacement ge switch was 3 l 2 1. Because it occurred within a few months of the remodel and because our house s wiring has always been a little bit flakey anyway i figured that there must be some sort of electrical problem.
