Bolt action rifle through world war ii and korea even with its replacement by the semi automatic gas.
Left hand springfield 1903. Must have been hell of a work to do this also wondering why they would use a m1917 bolt. It was made for a left handed shooter so it has the cheekpiece on the wrong side of the stock. It was officially adopted as a united states military bolt action rifle on june 19 1903 and saw service in world war i it was officially replaced as the standard infantry. Approximately 74 500 rifles were finished by the end of 1904 and being issued to the army.
Springfield 1903 left hand conversion bolt action. The 1903 springfield as originally adopted used a rod bayonet and a 30 caliber model 1903 cartridge 30 03 with a 220 grain round nose bullet. The m1903 springfield formally the united states rifle caliber 30 06 model 1903 is an american five round magazine fed bolt action service repeating rifle used primarily during the first half of the 20th century. This is a relatively older thread this discussion is older than 360 days. The cartridge employed a rimless necked down case with a 220 grain round nosed bullet that left the muzzle of the 24 inch barrel at some 2 300 feet per second fps. I was wathching a show on the military channel the other night and it showed and i think it was in the eto a gi coming out of a bunker with what looked like a 1903 or an 1903a3 in left hand so i ask you folks did they make them in lefthand or was the picture somehow reversed. Open breech by operating bolt drawing up and back to work action.
